Putin calls on Federal Security Service to purge economy of crimes

MOSCOW, Feb 20 (PRIME) -- The Federal Security Service should become more active in purging strategically important sectors of the economy from crimes, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday.

“One of the key priorities is, of course, to ensure economic security of the state and to fight corruption,” the president told a meeting of the service’s officials.

“Strategically important branches of the economy should be purged of crimes more actively using the positive experience of discovering criminal schemes in taxation and finances, in energy and the military industry.

He also said that human rights and the rights of companies should be observed strictly, and the service should react urgently to the information about violation of businessmen’s rights.

Putin called on the Federal Security Service to control the funds allocated for the national projects strictly but without interruption of government and companies’ activities.

“We are concentrating vast resources to attain the national development goals and this must be a goal-oriented work. Much depends on you, too, you should organize strict control over the movement of such vast financial flows,”

“But I also want to draw your attention that you must not interrupt work of relevant state and commercial organizations.”
